Aqua aerobic classes are run twice a week (07:30 Mon, Fri) in the St Helens District High School’s heated pool.
Conducted in waist deep water, aerobics is a form of resistance training. Classes focus on aerobic endurance, resistance training, and creating an enjoyable atmosphere with music.
The effects of water resistance and buoyancy differentiate water aerobics from those on land.
The push and pull of moving your body through water resistance allows increased muscle training and a built-in safety barrier for joints.
One of the aims of aqua aerobic workouts is to improve balance control and increase speed and accuracy of stepping on land with a view to helping to reduce the incidence of falls. Places are limited so please book ahead.
